Preparing for the Mack School Centennial Celebration

September 2022 will mark the 100th year of Mack School, at its current location on the corner of Miller and Seventh streets. Mack School is now the Ann Arbor Open School at Mack, an Ann Arbor Public Schools magnet school with students from all areas of the city. Karen Siegel is the current principal and she is beginning to prepare for the centennial celebration. One of her goals is to gather first-hand stories and photos from Mack School alumni. I’m sure that there are Class of ’63 classmates that have many fond memories of attending Mack School, and your input would be very helpful in preserving the history of the school. While there is not yet a system to submit your recollections and photos, I would be happy to note what you have and share it with the school at the appropriate time. I attended the 75th anniversary event in 1997, and with your participation the upcoming Mack School Centennial Celebration promises to be a memorable event as well.

Please contact me at our Class of ’63 website email, aahs@aahs63.com, to have your contributions added to the collection. Clicking here will take you to the homepage of Ann Arbor Open at Mack, and the link here will bring up a brief history of the school as published in 1997 by the Ann Arbor Observer.Charles “Butch” Larkins
